This month, we kick off our “Deck Showcase” series, featuring the work of FiberPROs from around the country. Check back the first week of each month as we showcase a new FiberPRO and their unique Fiberon projects.
To kick off our Deck Showcase series, we take you to enchanting wine country to introduce you to Gordon Whittaker from Alter Eagle Decks in Northern California. Working in a market with high-demand for an outdoor living space that compliments the natural environment, Gordon has grown to be an expert in landscape decks that conform to the natural look of their surroundings.
When we are called to build decks for customers who would like their deck to flow into the surrounding landscape and environment, these are some of the lighting and design features we used in our past projects. Click the images below for full-size photos.
Bodega Bay Project:
To maintain a dockside theme for an oceanfront complex with grey homes, we reflected the homes angles throughout the deck. The wooden shakes used for siding on the home were mimicked in the screening beneath the deck. We also cantilevered the deck across multiple levels to allow it to float into the landscaping and grading of the area.
We used solar lighting to mark the perimeter and low-voltage step lighting for the path. The main focus of this deck was to take advantage of the beautiful ocean views of the area.
