    We at Fiberon love a great decking makeover story. Recently we had the opportunity to work with Drew Scott, real estate whiz and star (along with his twin brother, Jonathan) of HGTV’s Brother vs. Brother. The San Francisco Bay-area property Drew was overhauling presented its share of design challenges. The one that really caught our eye was the outdoor space. The wood deck was among the worst we’ve seen: rotting boards, unstable railing and unsafe footings. Needless to say, it had to go.

  • International Builders’ Show (IBS) 2017: Highlights from the Fiberon booth

    Fiberon was among the 1500 exhibitors at the 2017 International Builders’ Show (IBS) held in Orlando, Florida, January 10-12. This much-anticipated annual event saw a record 80,000 home builders, remodelers, designers, and other professionals in attendance – a 25% increase over last year.  Despite a rather tumultuous 2016 and modest expectations regarding 2017 remodeling revenues, the show’s attendees were enthusiastic, engaged, and eager to experience the latest and greatest in building materials. The Fiberon booth did not disappoint.

  • How Fiberon technology creates beautiful backyards

    In the early days of the composite decking industry, boards were manufactured using a mono-extrusion process. Raw materials were blended together and then extruded under extreme heat and pressure through a customized die. While the boards did not splinter, crack, or rot like wood, they were prone to scratching, staining, and fading. And, because the decking was uncapped (meaning, there was no protective layer over the core), some brands experienced mold and mildew problems as well.
